Storytelling garners attention and communicates your ideas, information and message in an engaging and memorable way.

Learn how to deliver personal and business stories in a highly engaging and vivid way, in this workshop led by Bob Keiller and Derrick Thomson.

We can all learn by listening and watching others but we learn more when we get involved and try to apply new techniques and tools.

The approach is simple –

  • We explain a principle, give you some background, show you the tools and techniques than ask you to try them!
  • We provide feedback and support and you try them again.
  • We ask you to try the assignments and to submit short video clips of your efforts captured in one-take. (We understand that other priorities can sometimes make this difficult.)
  • We will provide you with useful feedback on content and delivery based on the principles we share with you. We try to make our feedback specific, objective and balanced.

The principles we teach are drawn from our own extensive experience and are supported by the underlying psychological science. Being a really effective business storyteller is a teachable and learnable skill. It does not rely on charisma or being a natural extravert. With lots of practice, tons of feedback and some helpful coaching we believe that anyone can give themselves an unfair advantage. Business relies on persuasion, business storytelling is at the heart of this.

People often ask us to help them to tell their story better. We show them that we all have many stories that mostly go untold.

Your stories – properly crafted and properly told are a hugely valuable business asset.

There are several techniques for discovering the stories that surround us so they can be harnessed in business presentations. Understanding the emotional arc of a story helps us to spot the signs that lead us to the underlying stories.

There are lot of factors to try and remember if you want to become an expert business storyteller. To make life simpler we have boiled a lot of these down into a series of simple templates that you can use to draft stories, craft pitches and improve presentations

This programme is based on the following components:

  • A series of E-Learning Modules containing videos, narrated presentations and quizzes on key elements of business storytelling. Stories are our most ancient and effective form of communication and incredibly powerful when used appropriately in business.
  • 2-Hour online instructor-led sessions spaced apart. Themes for these three sessions are “Story”, “Structure” and “Process”.
  • Three marked homework exercises to be submitted by trainees for feedback in online sessions.
  • Course Notes including AB15 templates for Story and Pitch.

The series will teach you:

  • What is business storytelling
  • When to use stories in business
  • Different types of stories
  • How to deliver vivid and persuasive stories

By the end of the series you will:

  • Create your own story tree-line
  • Draft an engaging personal or business story
  • Practice how to tell vivid and inspiring stories
  • Increase your confidence and learn how to manage fear and nerves
  • Receive professional feedback
